Overview

1Five and our clients (seed - publicly traded tech companies) are seeking Product Managers with deep expertise in ML Infrastructure, particularly model training and inference, and the ability to tech lead teams. Our clients are working on some of the most compelling problems in machine learning today, including :

  • Generative AI to automate computer-aided design (CAD);
  • LLMs and GenAI to deliver personalized healthcare to millions of patients;
  • AI & computational biophysics for drug discovery;
  • and more!

Responsibilities

  • Drive the end-to-end product lifecycle for machine learning products, from ideation and model development to deployment and iteration.
  • Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and stakeholders to translate ML research into scalable, production-grade applications.
  • Define key metrics for evaluating model and product success (e.g., F1 score, precision-recall, conversion rate, or adoption rate).
  • Manage data strategies, including data quality, collection, labeling, and pipeline optimization.
  • Oversee A / B testing, human-in-the-loop validation, and post-launch model monitoring to ensure continual improvement.
  • Balance business priorities and technical feasibility, ensuring ML initiatives align with broader product roadmaps.
  • Identify market opportunities where ML can provide competitive advantage and lead cross-functional alignment around those opportunities.
  • Ensure model and product compliance with responsible AI guidelines, including fairness, privacy, and transparency considerations
  • Qualifications

  • Experienced as a Product Manager in technology, ideally specializing in AI, machine learning, or data-driven software.
  • Exceptionally knowledgeable of machine learning frameworks, modeling lifecycles, and data infrastructure concepts.
  • Able to communicate complex technical topics effectively to executive and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Skilled in Agile and Lean product management methodologies.
  • Curious, problem-oriented thinker who is excited to dive deep into the emerging fields of AI + geometry, AI + physics, AI + geology, AI + healthcare... and more!
  • Nice to haves

  • Technical fluency in ML systems, including familiarity with model evaluation, data pipelines, and MLOps tools like MLflow, Kubeflow, or Vertex AI to effectively collaborate with engineering teams.
  • Prior experience as a Data Scientist or ML Engineer, providing hands-on understanding of model development, data preparation, and evaluation metrics.
  • Background in GenAI or LLM applications, such as fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or reinforcement learning with human feedback (RLHF).
