Quality Manager Tier 1 Automotive
Our client is a growing, tier one automotive supplier with a large national presence. They have a strong and tenured leadership team that is dedicated to their customers, their quality, and their employees. Our client produces many different products for major OEMs, including assemblies for the interior and exterior, suspension parts, and more.
Job Description
Lead, manage, and mentor the Quality Department, driving overall performance and ongoing development. Create and implement skill improvement plans for all team members while monitoring departmental effectiveness.
Oversee the completion of corrective actions and track, report, and enhance customer satisfaction metrics (PPM, PRR, NCT, QR, etc.).
Provide leadership and guidance across departments for internal problem-solving. Maintain data-driven systems for product and process reporting, continuous improvement, and root cause analysis.
Lead and maintain PPAP / APQP deliverables to ensure compliance with internal, customer, and AIAG standards. Ensure all documentation is accurate, organized, current, and consistently followed.
Verify that all product specifications meet requirements for fit, finish, durability, and appearance. Monitor and report company performance on key product and process characteristics (KPCs) and ensure improvement plans are in place.
Maintain and update all internal and customer databases to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of compulsory certification marks for finished, non-conforming, and modified products.
Notify certification bodies of any product changes related to compulsory certification marks.
Act as the Customer Representative for all plant-level quality concerns and communications.
Support initiatives to enhance internal performance related to scrap reduction, downtime, efficiency, and first-time quality (FTQ).
Manage overall supplier performance, including conducting supplier visits and audits as required.
Document all activities in accordance with company and quality system requirements.
Follow all company emergency evacuation procedures to ensure employee safety.
Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.
Alert the Plant Manager to any situations that could pose significant risks to product assurance, facility operations, employee safety, or customer satisfaction.
Initiate proactive actions to prevent nonconformance in products, processes, and systems.
Identify and record issues related to product, process, or system nonconformance.
Recommend and verify corrective or preventive solutions through appropriate channels.
Control processing and delivery of nonconforming products until issues are resolved.
Approve Business Operating System documentation where applicable.
Approve departmental purchase requisitions.
Approve responses to customer complaints.

The Successful Applicant
7+ years of management experience in an automotive manufacturing setting within quality
Strong understanding of IATF16949 with experience in leading audits
Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with high-profile customers
Familiarity with Core Tools - APQP / PPAP, FAI, GD&T, RCA, and CAPA
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blue prints
Lean / six sigma experience
