Job Title : Traffic Safety Engineer

Join Burgess & Niple as a Traffic Safety Engineer to contribute to our national Transportation Safety Team. This role can be based in Ohio (Cincinnati, Columbus, Mentor), Louisville, KY, Boise, ID, Indianapolis, IN, or Portland, OR.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the national safety practice and work on projects across the country.
  • Lead development of Vision Zero Action Plans, Regional Safety Plans, SS4A Plans, Vulnerable Road User Assessments, SHSPs, and other safety initiatives.
  • Perform and review safety analyses.
  • Advise on projects involving the Safe System Approach, safety countermeasures, strategies, and the Highway Safety Manual.
  • Attend conferences to share knowledge with safety professionals nationwide.
  • Mentor junior staff and support their growth into safety professionals.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 7+ years of experience in Transportation Engineering, Safety Planning, or related fields.
  • PE registration required; RSP preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Safe System Approach, Vision Zero, and safety principles; project management skills are a plus.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with IHSDM is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of virtual collaboration.
