American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Baltimore, Maryland.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with at least 2 years of critical care experience and active MD or compact license for a night shift role.

Responsibilities

  • Assignment is in an ICU / CCU setting at a hospital
  • Night shifts with a schedule of 3x12 hours (19 : 00–07 : 00)
  • Float between units is required
  • Every third weekend coverage required
  • Care for a range of critical care cases including surgical, multi-system organ failure, CVA / acute stroke, and ventilated patients
  • Use of advanced monitoring and equipment including Swan Ganz, ICP monitoring, CVVHD / CRRT, ECMO, Arctic Sun / Hypothermia protocol, BiPAP / CPAP, ventilators, and wound vacs
  • Responsibilities include managing complex patients requiring advanced monitoring and multi-organ support
  • Pre-employment modules and orientation training are required and may vary by specialty
  • Must adhere to all infection prevention and isolation protocols
  • Return staff policy applies : former staff must be gone at least one year to be eligible as a traveler
  • Up to seven days of requested time off is preferred during the 13-week contract, with no time off allowed in the first two weeks
  • Local candidates within a 60-mile radius are accepted at a different rate
  • Holiday coverage may be required according to the department needs

    • Requirements

  • Active MD or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU / CCU experience required
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Experience in surgical intensive care and with procedures such as 12-lead EKG, arterial / central / PICC line management, titration of cardiac drips, blood product administration, and emergency medication administration
  • Competency in ventilator management, infection prevention, isolation precautions, and wound care
  • Must provide two supervisor references from within the last two years
