Budget Analyst

Budget Analyst

The primary purpose of this position is to examine budget estimates for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with procedures and regulations and to analyze budgeting and accounting reports.

Essential Job Functions

The essential job functions include :

• Prepare regular and special budget reports.
• Perform trending analysis and projections and forecasts.
• Ensures the City's compliance with the State of Florida's Truth in Millage (TRIM) process.
• Review expenditures to ensure compliance with operational and capital budget limits.
• Evaluate the relationships between major program changes and the financial status of organizations.
• Ensure there are adequate funds for programs within the organization.
• Employ cost-benefit analysis to review financial requests, assess program tradeoffs and explore alternative funding methods.
• Examine past budgets.
• Estimate future financial needs.
• Consolidate individual departmental budgets into operating and capital budget summaries.
• Evaluate the performance of a program.
