Overview
Assistant Professor of Geography and Geospatial Sciences — Kennesaw, Georgia. Full-Time, regular, nine-month contracted tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Geography and Anthropology with a preferred start date of August 2026. Located in Georgia, USA.
Responsibilities
- Teaching responsibilities aligned with department needs, including (1) lower- and upper-level undergraduate courses in geography and geospatial sciences; (2) developing and teaching upper-level GeoAI (Geospatial Artificial Intelligence) courses; and (3) mentoring students in the candidate's field(s) of research and scholarship.
- Teach courses of variable size and in multiple modalities, including large class sizes.
- Engage in scholarship in GeoAI with a focus on collaborative work with faculty and students to reinforce a robust curriculum.
- Provide service to degree programs, department, college, university, and the professional community.
Required Qualifications
Terminal / Doctorate degree, or foreign equivalent, in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Geographic Information Science (GIS), or a related discipline, at the time of hire.Evidence of expertise in the development and / or application of GeoAI in one or more geographic / geospatial research areas (e.g., natural disasters, climate change, public health, environmental studies, economic development, urbanization, population dynamics, or cultural diffusion).Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching lower-division general education courses in geography and geospatial sciences.Experience developing and teaching advanced GeoAI courses and other geospatial science topics.Experience teaching upper-division courses in environmental geography, sustainability, regional geography, or systematic geography.Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching across different class sizes, including large classes.Experience teaching online, hybrid, and in-person large-section courses.Evidence of scholarship beyond GeoAI in geography and / or geospatial sciences.Required Documents to Attach
