Job Description :

Weatherby Healthcare is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for a long-term locum tenens assignment in Fargo, ND.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated team of two surgeons, providing essential support across the full continuum of care—from the OR and ICU to the clinic. You will play a critical role in a dynamic environment, handling 1-2 surgeries per day with an average inpatient census of 6-7 adult patients.

The position begins with specific date coverage in late 2025 and transitions into a full-time need starting in January 2026.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide first-assist coverage in the operating room.
  • Manage patient care in the ICU, step-down unit, and outpatient clinic.
  • Perform required procedures including placing and removing chest tubes and central lines.
  • Participate in a rotating call schedule.
  • Document all patient encounters in the EPIC EMR system.

Schedule :

  • Initial Coverage Dates :

    • October 20 (7 am) – October 24 (5 pm).

  • November 24 (7 am) – November 28 (5 pm).
  • December 22 (7 am) – December 26 (5 pm).
  • December 29 (7 am) – January 2 (5 pm).
  • Ongoing Need : A full-time, ongoing need begins in January 2026 and runs through June 30, 2026.

    • Required Qualifications :

  • Must have Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) experience. (Hemopro system). This is a non-negotiable requirement.
  • Board Certification as a PA or NP.
  • Active BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Active DEA registration.
  • Proficiency in placing / removing chest tubes and central lines.
  • Robotic Assisted Harvesting (RAH) experience is highly preferred.
