Position
The Utah Department of Transportation is looking for two hard-working, hands-on individuals to fill a Transportation Technician II position in Region Two's Park City Maintenance Station, located at 5590 S Pace Frontage Rd, Park City, UT 84098.
This is a team-based role that supports the construction and maintenance of state roads to Keeps Utah Moving as safely and efficiently as possible.
Principal Duties
- As a transportation technician in maintenance, learn general maintenance activities related to state routes, highways, and other transportation infrastructure.
- Operate heavy machinery such as snowplows, salt spreaders, front-end loaders, and backhoes to maintain roads.
- Inspect and test materials used and utilize software to manage Department assets.
- Cross-train in various construction areas after 18 months.
- Remove snow from state roadways using snowplows, front-end loaders, salt spreaders, graders, blowers, and related equipment.
- Perform general maintenance to roadway and drainage features.
- Perform general maintenance on equipment.
- Perform materials testing and provide required documentation to ensure features are constructed / installed according to project plans and specifications.
- Perform construction inspection and document work performed by contractors.
- Work with contractors to complete construction, maintenance, and permit projects.
- Perform vegetation management, including herbicide application.
- Complete other duties as assigned and needed by department leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire through Department-provided training and participate in the Region's snow plan.Be able to report to the Region Two Park City Maintenance Station within a 30-minute response time.Be able and willing to provide 24-hour availability.Self-provide a smartphone with data and be eligible for a monthly taxable cell plan allowance.Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.Be reliable and able to work well in a team environment.Be able and willing to complete continued education in the UDOT Transportation Technician Education Program (TEP).Obtain certifications required by the Region within the first year and keep those certifications current.This position may be filled at the Transportation Technician I level for applicants who do not meet the preferences listed below.

A Class A CDL.TEP Transportation Technician II Training.UDOT maintenance / construction experience.Professional experience operating heavy equipment.Professional experience with roadway maintenance / construction and snow removal.Supplemental Information
Registration with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse is a requirement for all CDL holders. Selected candidates will be required to register and authorize pre-employment queries for the CDL for the duration of employment.This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing after hire.Position may be reassigned to a different location as deemed necessary by the Region Director / Group Leader.Position requires exposure to hazards and environmental conditions; physical exertion may be required (standing, walking on rough surfaces, bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 lbs.).Why Should You Join Our Team?
