job_description.job_card.job_descriptionAdventHealth Tampa, a faith-based not-for-profit 626-bed tertiary-level acute care hospital located in the uptown district of Tampa, Florida, specializes in advanced cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience and neurology, digestive health, orthopedics, women's services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine and general surgery including minimally invasive and robot-assisted procedures. GME programs on the hospital campus currently include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and transitional year. AdventHealth Tampa is home to the renowned AdventHealth Pepin Heart Institute, a recognized leader in cardiovascular disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and leading-edge research – caring for Tampa Bay's hearts for over 35 years. The Kiran C. Patel Research Institute, also located at AdventHealth Tampa, leads the way in clinical and academic research in the areas of neuroscience, cardiovascular medicine, advanced surgery and more – contributing valuable knowledge that leads to tomorrow's cures for conditions such as heart failure, cancer and other diseases.” The surgeon shall convey the exact position that will give the best exposure for the surgical procedure. Points of pressure shall be padded : elbows, heels, knees, eyes, face, and axillary region. The surgical assistant shall be familiar with common positions related to the surgical procedure and will be able to use the equipment necessary to provide the position. Upon completion of the procedure, the patient shall be evaluated for any possible damage from positioning which will include assessment of the skin. The abnormal condition shall be reported to the surgeon and treatment and documentation shall be carried out. High School education or equivalent Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Course Able to precept and act as resource person and preceptor in multiple surgical specialties. Minimum six years' experience as a CST / CFA (CST experience calculated as ½ years experience). Specialist in at least 3 major surgical specialties (Orthopedics and Neurosurgery / Spine) and Robotics. Certification as a First Assistant by one of the following : American Health BLS (Basic Life Support).

Prepares and maintains the surgical area, scrubs and is first assistant to the physician during procedures, assists the RN in technical functions related to patient care in the OR and assists in the training of others and functions as a resource within the department.
