The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking an organized and purchasing specialist to join the Business Services team as a Procurement & Supply Specialist 4 (PSS4), who is designated as a technical expert in purchasing, procurement, and fixed assets throughout the state. The goal of this position is to plan, source, negotiate, implement, interpret and provide oversight of the purchasing & procurement process, fixed assets and rules.

As a PSS4, you will work each day to promote effective stewardship of state resources and provide goods and services necessary to support the staff and overall safe and secure operations of the Department. You will serve as the primary purchasing agent for various teams throughout the agency, representing them in all aspects of a small or large purchase. You will work with all levels of customers and perform analysis and customer assessments to assist in identifying new contracting possibilities.

This critical role provides supervision and leadership to the Statewide Purchasing Unit Staff, assessing the performance and training needs of team member while developing mentoring and coaching strategies. You will also be responsible for the accuracy of fixed assets n the Capital Asset Management System, monitor and maintain the fixed asset inventory, and Collaborate with the IT Asset Manager for IT equipment purchases that require entry in to the asset system and assist with physical inventories.
