Shelter Advocate
Shelter Advocate Volunteers provide direct service advocacy to victims of domestic and sexual violence, including crisis intervention, support, general advocacy, referral, and education.
- Respond to crisis calls, shelter requests and phone calls by directing callers to the appropriate resource or staff person as necessary.
- Support women and families residing at the shelter with daily needs and crisis intervention.
- Communicate with other full-time staff and volunteers regarding ongoing facility, program, and client needs.
- Follow all agency policies and procedures.
- Must be 18 or older and have not received Alexandra House services in the last year. Position requires Volunteer Interview, Volunteer Orientation, Background Check, Information Session, 50-hour training, and attendance at any additional volunteer meetings.
