Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 5+ years of progressive purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong negotiation and vendor management skills; proven cost savings experience. Knowledge of inventory management and Lean methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, etc.). Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with ERP systems and data / analytics tools (Power BI or similar). Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions. Senior Buyer
Location : New Castle, PA
Compensation : $80-$90k base + bonus
Position Overview
A growing manufacturing organization in Western Pennsylvania is seeking a Senior Buyer to step into a high-impact role within its supply chain team. This position will be instrumental in managing day-to-day purchasing operations while driving greater efficiency and cost savings.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily purchasing operations with a focus on raw materials (30,000+ SKUs across domestic and international suppliers).
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times to deliver cost savings and strengthen vendor partnerships.
- Oversee inventory management activities and apply Lean principles to improve inventory turns.
- Partner with warehousing, production, planning, shipping, and engineering to support operational needs.
- Leverage ERP, Excel, and reporting tools (Power BI, AI, etc.) to improve reporting and decision-making.
- Mentor and guide a Buyer within the department, supporting their development and success.
- Regularly engage on the factory floor to stay aligned with production and supply chain demands.
- Support cross-functional projects that improve efficiency, supplier performance, and overall supply chain resilience.
