Benefit Programs Assistant
The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking a talented Benefit Programs Assistant to work in the Financial Division. This candidate will provide program support to Accounting staff; perform a variety of tasks required for the completion of Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards issuance.
Duties :
- Responsible for all aspects of issuing Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) recipients.
- Receive Internal Action Forms (IAF) from Eligibility Workers.
- Utilize state system to research client case information and attach the case to the EBT card.
- Meet face to face with SNAP recipients to distribute cards.
- Effectively communicate instructions and information to recipients and answer questions.
- Professionally and empathetically assist recipients experiencing crisis situations.
- Contact Eligibility Workers on recipient's behalf when necessary.
- Act as a liaison between HSD Finance and Financial Assistance Division (FAD).
