Summary of Position :
Reporting to the Critical Incident Response Manager and / or the Critical Incident Response Lead, the Critical Incident Responder provides compassionate on-scene violence interruption, crowd control, de-escalation, and stabilization at scenes of violence. They are an integral part of the Critical Incident Response System and are trained in crowd control, de-escalation, and stabilization.

Requirements
Required :
Travel throughout the community to respond to incidents and provide support in person and in real time.
Preferred Skills / Experience :
Lived experience with the criminal legal system - policing, jail, state supervision. We believe in a peer-led model and value the lived experience of those most impacted by the system.

Physical Demands
Occasionally work in hazardous conditions (i.e. crowds, escalated situations, etc.)
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a prolonged period.
Must be able to occasionally move about, especially outdoors and in community spaces.
Constantly operated a cell phone, laptop / tablet.
Constantly moving from one location to another (office space, work in the community, meeting / training space, etc.)
Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions.
Ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
Occasionally move boxes or items weighing up to 20 pounds for various program needs.
Occasionally ascends / descends stairs.
Occasionally move in tight and confined spaces like a vehicle.

Requirements
Requirements : A clear criminal background check is required for all positions within our school district or working directly with youth / minors. While on the job in the community providing services, you will be in uniform (shirts, hoodies, badges, walkie-talkies, etc.) While on duty, you will be on call for potential incidences of violence including hospital support, vigils, funerals, and community events, including on evenings and weekends. Ability to walk long distances at a time with up to 30lbs of equipment. Preferred Experience or Skills : Experience with de-escalation, mediation, and harm-reduction efforts is required. Experience and / or expertise in the area of violence prevention and intervention, or trauma-informed support services among high-risk populations is required. Lived experience of the impact of gun violence Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to safeguard and maintain individual records to keep participant files complete, confidential, and in order.
