Job Description :
As a member of our hospitality team, the primary responsibility of an Assistant Director is to assist the Director of Finance in the financial operations of the hotel by assisting in the implementation of a comprehensive business plan aligned with the company's strategic direction and revenue management strategies. This role provides strong accounting operations, and compliance with taxes, permits, and licenses, effectively communicates financial concepts by communicating financial concepts clearly, and leverages technology to generate reports. A crucial part of this role is fostering a positive work environment by engaging with associates in a friendly and professional manner with a focus on delivering accounting services that meet or exceed the needs of the hotel.
Regularly generates and reviews financial reports that are directly linked to the plan's financial goals, providing valuable insights and data-driven recommendations.Assists in the development of the property's annual operating budget and plays a vital role during budget reviews, identifying cost-saving opportunities and productivity enhancements to drive financial performance.Shares critical forecast information with operations, enabling the team to respond swiftly to changes in the business landscape.Prioritizes maintaining a robust accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets, optimize operations, and enhance profitability.Serves as a trusted advisor to the Director of Finance, providing valuable insights and guidance on existing and evolving operating and financial issues, contributing to informed decision-making.Communicates financial concepts with clarity, ensuring that information is easily understood and effectively drives desired behaviors across the organization.Leads the oversight of internal, external, and regulatory audit processes, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintaining high standards of financial integrity.Vigilantly reconciles balance sheet accounts and ensures that account balances are fully supported by appropriate documentation in strict adherence to SOPs.Takes charge of ensuring the accuracy of the P&L statement, ensuring that costs are correctly matched to revenue and promptly delivering statements to the relevant parties.Demonstrates expertise in tax matters, ensuring that applicable tax rates are up-to-date, accurate amounts are collected and accrued for sales / use tax, and tax-exempt transactions are appropriately documented.Ensures that hotel permits, licenses, and vendor contracts are current and managed diligently.Proactively addresses and corrects audit issues when necessary, fostering a proactive approach to addressing potential challenges.Cultivates a working environment that fosters the retention of top talent, encourages professional growth, and fosters teamwork.Orientates hotel managers to the accounting function and coaches them in effectively managing their department's financial performance.Participates in the associate performance appraisal process, providing feedback to foster continuous improvement.Equal Opportunity Employer / Protected Veterans / Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
