Reports to : Foreman

Summary / Objective : Pipe Welders II join pipes. valves and fitting components as specified by layout, prints, diagrams, work orders, or verbal instructions, using hand and powered hand tools, and welding equipment. They must be familiar with OSHA requirements for safety and hot work onboard naval vessels.

Duties include, but are not limited to :

• Successfully completion pipe welding qualification requirements using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) in the restricted 6G position on ferrous and nonferrous materials.
• Setup and adjust various welding equipment and associated accessories.
• Ability to interpret welding symbols-based on the AWS Welding Symbols.
• Familiarity with the workmanship requirements of the following :

MIL-STD-22, Welded Joint Design,

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work : This is a full-time position requires 40+ hours of work per week. M-F 0600 - 1430 (or as otherwise assigned by Project Manager) with pre-scheduled overtime as needed.

Work Environment : This job operates in a shipyard work environment.

Travel : This position does require ability to travel.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be available to work at heights, confined spaces and have ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes.

May involve carrying objects that weigh up to 50 lbs., frequent stooping, bending, crawling, reaching, and walking.
