Knowledge of Radiology Information System (RIS) and HIS preferred

Description :

This position performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist should have knowledge about Nuclear Medicine Instrumentation which includes the use of gamma cameras, PET, radiation detectors, and dose calibrators, as well as quality control of all equipment.

The technologist should be knowledgeable about radiation safety practices, patient and occupational exposures, dosimetry, and ALARA techniques, which include time, distance, and shielding measures.

Knowledge of Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines pertaining to handling, administering, and transportation of radioactive materials is essential.

The technologist should possess knowledge about Radiopharmacy, including the safe administration, preparation, measurement, and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Key responsibilities include injects and administering all radiopharmaceuticals, assaying radiopharmaceutical activities, and calculating volume and activity concentrations.

The technologist should enter radiopharmaceutical records in a dose tracking system while performing laboratory procedures involving the measurement, manipulation, and preparation of radiopharmaceutical kits and unit doses.

Understanding Nuclear Medicine protocols and procedures is crucial for positioning patients correctly on equipment and monitoring patients during procedures.

The technologist should have intravenous access skills and perform appropriate site selection while utilizing aseptic techniques.

Operating all Nuclear Medicine instrumentation devices and understanding quality control requirements for all used equipment is necessary.

A thorough understanding of radiation safety regulations and procedures should be applied diligently.
