The Sales Account Manager plays a dual role in driving business growth and ensuring successful project delivery. This position combines strategic sales expertise with project management skills , making it critical to securing new opportunities while delivering high-quality, profitable projects.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, industry events, and market research.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and developers to secure repeat business.
  • Prepare and present competitive bids and proposals in collaboration with estimators and sales teams.
  • Negotiate contracts and project terms to balance client needs with company profitability goals.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and client requirements to position the company effectively.

Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead project kickoff meetings to align scope, budget, and timelines with client expectations.
  • Allocate resources (labor, materials, equipment) to meet project demands.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, addressing risks and delays proactively.
  • Oversee project budgets, ensuring adherence and addressing variances.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks to minimize impact on scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
  • Provide regular project updates and progress reports to clients and stakeholders.
  • Resolve client concerns and escalate issues promptly to maintain satisfaction.
  • Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Collaborate with estimators, designers, engineers, and field teams to align sales commitments with delivery capabilities.
  • Supervise project teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Monitor performance and provide feedback to improve team efficiency and results.
  • Sales & Project Integration

  • Ensure smooth handoffs between sales and execution phases with detailed documentation.
  • Partner with clients and teams on value engineering to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Leverage completed projects to drive repeat business and referrals.
  • Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate CRM records of sales activities, client interactions, and project milestones.
  • Manage contracts, change orders, and close-out documentation.
  • Track and report sales performance, project progress, and profitability to leadership.
  • Qualifications & Skills

  • Construction Knowledge – Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and project management principles.
  • Sales Acumen – Ability to identify opportunities, negotiate effectively, and build lasting client relationships.
  • Project Management Expertise – Skilled in scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Communication Skills – Excellent verbal and written skills for engaging with clients and internal teams.
  • Leadership Abilities – Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage subcontractors / vendors.
  • Problem-Solving – Ability to address challenges proactively during both sales and execution phases.
