The Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology Specialist provides expert nursing care for patients undergoing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. Key responsibilities include thorough patient assessments, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and delivering comprehensive support throughout the pre-, intra-, and post-procedure phases.\n\nUnit Description : \n\nInterventional Radiology nurses play an essential role in enhancing the patient experience during advanced interventional procedures.\n\nThe IR nurse is responsible for demonstrating exceptional critical thinking and time management skills specific to procedural nursing, performing detailed patient assessments that guide care decisions under the direction of IR providers in both routine and high-stakes clinical situations. Other vital duties include managing patients' hemodynamic and respiratory status, establishing and maintaining IV access, titrating vasoactive intravenous medications, safely administering moderate sedation, accurately documenting in EPIC, utilizing and troubleshooting invasive monitoring devices, and providing pre-, intra-, and post-procedure support and education, advocating for patients throughout the process.\n\nOn-call requirements include one weekend (Friday evening-Monday morning) and four weekdays (Monday through Thursday) every nine weeks, with a response time of 30 minutes.\n

  • A minimum of two years of RN experience is required; prior experience with the administration and monitoring of patients receiving moderate sedation is highly recommended.
