Structural Design Engineer
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience producing Structural design and construction documents in an A / E consulting firm
- Proficiency in REVIT (preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Comfortable with a broad range of project types
- Experience using Structural analysis software; RISA or similar
- Familiarity with building Structural systems, including steel, cold-form steel, masonry, concrete and wood design
- Experience designing building structural systems to meet LEED criteria
- Comfortable working on parallel assignments
- Familiarity with building design and construction
- Proactive and assertive in problem solving
- Comfortable working on parallel assignments
- Comfortable working in teams and making group presentations
- Familiarity with A / E industry BIM standards a plus
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation a plus
- LEED certification a plus
- Good written and oral communications skills; fluent in speaking, reading and writing in English
RESPONSIBILITIES
Help our clients achieve their goalsWork with Structural Engineers and Project Managers to meet KZF goals and objectivesSupport Structural Engineering projects under the supervision of Structural Engineers and other KZF staffMaintain a general knowledge of architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, fire protection and telecom building systems; coordinate these systems with the Structural designPrepare Structural design and construction documents in REVIT, per applicable standardsPrepare documents in conformance with KZF standards and quality control requirementsAssist with the preparation of Structural Engineering design studies, design narratives, calculations, and analysisAssist with the preparation of design documents as required for all phases of design (concept, schematic, design development, construction documents)Maintain technical accuracy, constructability, code conformance, and appropriate level of detail for project scopesAssist with the preparation of outline and final construction document specifications, and coordinate the work with other project specificationsParticipating in Value EngineeringAttend and participate in project team meetingsSeek advice from Project Engineers and the Director of Structural Engineering Services, as requiredInterface with all professional disciplines assigned to the project to coordinate the Structural Engineering workRemain current with new products and tools that will assist you in better meeting our client’s needsAssist with researching building materials and systems and selecting appropriate items for incorporation into the building designAssist with field investigations and participate in construction site observation visits as requestedMaintain technical expertise in your profession and area of workProvide REVIT support to the CA Department and other team members on projectsAssist with construction administration, review shop drawings, prepare construction submittals, participate in construction site observation, prepare Request for Information (RFI) responses and work with the Construction Administration Department and other team members to resolve construction issues in a timely manner
