Job Title : Occupational TherapistJob Specialty : Occupational TherapyJob Duration : Not specifiedShift : Flexible, 8HR / 10HR / 12HR DaysGuaranteed Hours : Not specifiedExperience : Previous experience preferredLicense : Eligible for or holds current Occupational Therapist licensure to practice in the State of OklahomaCertifications : BLS requiredMust-Have : - Degree in Occupational Therapy required- Good written and verbal communication skills- Typing and basic computer skillsJob Description : - Responsible for the development, administration, and implementation of occupational therapy treatment programs for inpatients, outpatients, and injured workers, including patients in a skilled nursing facility.- Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained.- Supervise supportive occupational therapy personnel.- Serve as a liaison upon discharge.- Implement patient care with knowledge and skill, maintaining high-quality work performance in all areas.- Provide proper assistance and verbal cueing for optimal patient performance.- Evaluate patients and establish an appropriate plan of care, adapting to patient and caregiver needs and goals.- Demonstrate empathy and motivate patients to perform to the best of their ability.- Instruct patients and / or caregivers in treatment procedures, home programs, orthotics / prosthetics, and special equipment using clear verbal and / or written instructions.- Use time effectively by delegating appropriate portions of treatment to trained support personnel.- Write functional goals and re-assess patient progress towards goals, adjusting the plan of care as needed.- Document patient performance efficiently in the medical record per policy and regulatory guidelines.- Review the patient's chart and communicate / collaborate with multidisciplinary team members regarding the patient's condition.- Assist with training, supervision, and coordination of efforts with assistants, students, and volunteers.- Prepare and operate equipment for patient care, including HCP, paraffin, splinting equipment and supplies, oxygen tanks, immobilizers, braces, orthotics / prosthetics, tilt table, and assistive devices.- Clean equipment according to hospital and department policies and procedures, storing equipment appropriately.- Practice effective problem identification and resolution skills to support sound decision-making and keeping appropriate people informed of pertinent issues.- Respond effectively to stressful or emergency situations by adhering to policies, remaining calm, informing appropriate people, and documenting events.- Demonstrate knowledge and compliance with isolation and biohazard techniques.- Provide ongoing and continual care for the patient population, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and elderly patients.- Ensure proper assistance and safety when transferring patients, asking for help when needed, and appropriate use of lift devices and gait belts.- Perform other duties as required and assigned.
