The objective of the Space Development group is to provide innovative technology solutions to ensure our Nation achieves and maintains space superiority in a multi-domain conflict. Were looking for a software engineer to develop space combat power and multi-domain simulation software. This software will support force structure planning Digital Test and Training Synthetic Environment Joint Combatant Command analysis and operations support Space Force testing and training and research and development of space systems. As a Software Engineer 3 you will be expected to maintain and manage workflow of junior engineers in addition to leading projects under the Space Protection and Response Solution program. The work will be hybrid at Kirtland AFB. Final interview contingent on a technical coding assessment in C.

What You Will Do

Interacts with the team via Confluence Discourse GitLab and Jira. Performs code reviews and ensures work quality remains high.

Works with government leadership to keep the team on course. Works with customers to capture requirements and feedback.

Updates status and presents progress to local leadership and customers.

Conducts multidisciplinary research to support team development and modeling objectives.

Contributes to broader team vision and direction discussions. Contributes to simulation software architecture discussions.

Designs develops documents tests and debugs space simulation software.

What You Must Have

5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.

Advanced proficiency in C programming including compiling linking and debugging complex applications

Experience compiling linking and debugging of C applications.

Hands-on experience with agent-based and event-driven modeling and simulation.

Familiarity with space systems concepts such as coordinate systems time standards and orbital propagation.

Ability to excel in a fast-paced agile development environment.

Experience problem-solving attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-pace agile development environment.

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a TS / SCI clearance

Preferred Requirements

Proficiency in Python including experience with embedded Python applications

Strong understanding of space domain awareness including tracking characterization and threat assessment of space objects

Academic background in mathematics or physics supporting analytical modeling and technical problem-solving

Knowledge of parallel software development including multi-threading and distributed computing architectures

Knowledge of the U.S. and Allied space enterprise including organizational structures mission objectives and strategic partnerships

Physical Requirements

Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family.
