job_description.job_card.job_descriptionProblem solves potential areas requiring improvement Facilitates initiatives to address these areas Establishes indicators to monitor the process Provides written and oral reports as needed in a timely fashion Identify areas of opportunities for staff enhancement Assist in the development and coordination of professional in-services Assist in the training and orientation of new employees Co-treat with staff as needed to enhance skill sets Serves as a clinical resource to staff Supervises the student / volunteer program Attends department and organizational meetings as needed Assists in the development of department goals and objectives Oversees the growth and development of these programs Assist in the development of and review of policy and procedures Maintains compliance with outside regulatory agency standards Plans and organizes Rehabilitation (PT / OT / ST / Audiology) Therapy with the Program Director Assists with the marketing / education of the program to outside referral sources Provides in-services to the community and other agencies as needed Collaborates with other Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation managers to keep abreast of current issues Oversees material management Monitors staff productivity and assigns staff to patients based upon work load and therapy specialties Coordinates staffing within the department to optimize staff productivity and coverage Adheres and monitors all regulatory compliance issues and insurance guidelines to ensure effective reimbursement Works in conjunction with other members of the team (Physician, nursing, nutrition, respiratory, etc.) to deliver a coordinated approach to care Problem solves with interdisciplinary team when problems arise to present potential solutions Maintains an open communication and good rapport with interdisciplinary team. 5 yrs clinical and 2 years supervisory. PT- Have received an education, including completion of a master's degree or higher in physical therapy or determined to be equivalent, in accordance with the NYS commissioner’s regulations OT- Have satisfactorily completed an approved occupational therapy curriculum in a baccalaureate or masters program, or a certificate program satisfactory to the NYS education department which is substantially equivalent to a baccalaureate degree program, in accordance with the NYS commissioner's regulations ST- Obtained at least a Masters degree in speech-language pathology or its equivalent, as determined by the NYS education department, in accordance with the NYS commissioner's regulations. Completion of clinical training required by professional program / NYS License BLS Certification is required.
Manager Inpatient Services
In addition to providing direct patient care to optimize a patient’s ability to perform activities of daily living, the manager supervises the activities of the Physical, Occupational and / or Speech Therapists and Audiologists (as appropriate) ensuring that all services are provided in accordance with hospital and outside regulatory agency standards. They assist with policy and procedure development, long and short term planning and performance improvement, and resource and fiscal management. They provide leadership to the staff, promote clinical competence and are responsible for overseeing and providing education opportunities to the department. Direct patient care will constitute 50-75% of total scheduled time with 25-50% dedicated to administrative duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs Physical / Occupational / Speech Therapy (as per licensure) duties consisting of evaluating and assessing the patient; developing goals and a plan of care; involving the patient / family in the development of these goals : providing treatment to address these goals; completing all required documentation in a timely fashion; and performing re-assessments and discharge summaries as per policy.
Supervises rehabilitation (PT / OT / ST / Audiology) personnel in conjunction with the Director to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of care to customers.
- Maintains updated personnel, mandatory, BLS certification and competency records
- Assists in completing performance evaluations on Rehabilitation Therapists (PT / OT / ST / Audiologists) in a timely manner
- Assists in the counseling of staff and provides additional training as needed
- Delegates tasks and supervises progress towards these tasks
- Troubleshoots problems and offers potential remedies
Assists in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery and efficiency of care being rendered.
Assist in staff development and clinical competence
Participates in new service and program development in conjunction with the Director
Assists in ensuring regulatory compliance is maintained.
Provide leadership throughout the department
Maintains fiscal accountability for the department
Interdisciplinary team work
Performs other assigned duties as requested.
