Ensure timely completion of evaluations and accurate documentation for eligibility determination for special education students who are privately placed by ACPS. Coordinate and facilitate state testing for students in private placement. Monitor implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students on a private placement caseload. Coordinate credit accommodations for students with disabilities at the secondary level. Facilitate the matriculation process for students with disabilities as they advance to the next educational level. Build strong partnerships with outside agencies, private providers, and community resources. Ensure compliance with IDEA and state regulations governing special education. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Criminal Justice Fingerprint / Background Clearance. Tuberculosis Skin Test. Must follow safety and health protocols.
Job Description
The Special Education Coordinator is responsible for ensuring high-quality special education services that meet the needs of students with disabilities in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position provides leadership in program implementation, oversees assessment and eligibility processes for privately placed students, works collaboratively with the Department of Accountability on divisionwide and statewide testing and collaborates with school teams, families, and outside agencies to support student success.
Qualifications
- Education : Completion of a Master7s Degree required.
- Certificates & Licenses : Valid Virginia Department of Education Postgraduate Professional license, with an endorsement in Special Education.
- Experience : At least 8 years of experience as a Special Education Teacher.
