Opportunity Overview
Breaking Data is seeking a junior to mid-level designer with strong UX / UI sensibilities and traditional design skills. This integrated role is ideal for someone who loves creating visually compelling layouts and also understands the logic of user experience design.
In this role you will work closely with senior designers, writers, and developers to produce digital and print assets that bring healthcare brands to life—without needing to code full websites or handle back-end development.
This role is approximately 60% digital / UX and 40% traditional design , bridging the gap between creative design and technical feasibility.
Roles and responsibilities
UX and Digital Development
Code responsive HTML / CSS emails and digital banners optimized for cross-platform compatibility (Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail, etc.).
Apply front-end web design principles to create clear, user-friendly deliverables.
Build wireframes and prototypes using Figma, Adobe XD, or similar tools.
Develop page layouts and interactive mockups for handoff to development teams.
Understand responsive design (desktop, tablet, mobile) and modern usability conventions.
Incorporate Interactive Important Safety Information (ISI) functionality into digital assets for healthcare compliance.
Coordinate with development partners to align front-end user experience with back-end CRM infrastructure on web projects.
Partner with agency developers on web builds, ensuring the design intent is achievable.
Creative Design
Design across formats including emails, digital banners, PowerPoints, and brochures.
Confidently use Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) to create digital and print deliverables.
Take existing brand assets and style guides and extend them consistently.
Create clean, visually balanced compositions that reinforce brand identity.
Basic understanding of motion principles or animation for interactive prototypes, transitions, or infographics is preferred but not required.
Collaboration and Workflow
Work closely with senior designers to ensure design intent is maintained across all deliverables.
Coordinate directly with external development partners to align design vision with technical feasibility and manage design-to-development handoffs.
Serve as a liaison between external coding vendors and the internal creative team, translating technical details into actionable design direction.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent quality and timely delivery.
Help manage vendor timelines and communications to reduce bottlenecks for senior team members.
Participate in brainstorming sessions, reviews, and feedback cycles.
Qualifications
Technical Skills
Proficiency in HTML / CSS coding for responsive emails and digital banner ads, including interactive, important safety information for healthcare compliance.
Familiarity with CMS platforms (WordPress, Squarespace, Wix) - enough to collaborate effectively, not to code full sites.
Awareness of UX design principles (usability, accessibility, and information hierarchy).
Experience with digital design and prototyping tools such as Figma or Adobe XD.
Understanding of platform-specific standards and file specifications (web, email, banner ad formats).
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
Familiarity with basic JavaScript concepts is a plus, but not required.

Ability to translate client needs into functional, user-friendly layouts.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher in design, digital media, interactive media or related field.
1-3 years of professional work experience in digital design and coding (agency, freelance, and / or healthcare industry experience preferred).
