About the Role
The Senior-Level Histologist plays a critical role in producing high-quality pathology products to support timely and accurate diagnoses. Working in a fast-paced, high-volume laboratory, the Senior-Level performs a combination of routine and advanced testing procedures, while also contributing to training, quality control, and technical leadership at the bench.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer leadership at the bench level, assisting with decision-making and problem-solving.
- Provide training in both routine and advanced histologic techniques.
- Identify quality issues and notify appropriate technical staff.
- Perform routine histology tasks including specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
- Conduct advanced techniques such as immunohistochemistry (IHC), direct immunofluorescence (DIF), enzyme histochemistry, and special stains.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot tissue processors and staining equipment.
- Perform grossing of specific specimen types, as qualified by CLIA regulations.
- Follow established quality control practices to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
- Support other departmental duties as assigned.
