What Youll Do

Prepare to assume the role of Executive Director within 1-2 years by developing advanced leadership skills and deep organizational knowledge. This role is designed for seasoned professionals eager to apply their expertise to drive meaningful community impact while mentoring others and shaping sustainable transportation solutions.

  • Lead with Purpose : Oversee projects that enhance our vanpool services and public transportation information clearinghouse, ensuring they meet community needs on time and within budget.
  • Solve Problems Like a Pro : Use your experience to anticipate challenges, address barriers, and keep projects aligned with our mission to improve access to transportation.
  • Mentor and Collaborate : Work with a dedicated team, sharing your knowledge while learning from others in a supportive, mission-driven environment.
  • Drive Community Impact : Manage grant budgets, timelines, and stakeholders with the clarity and efficiency that comes from years of real-world experience.
  • Public-facing leader, you will represent MRTMA to diverse audiences, serving as a key advocate for sustainable transportation while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

What You Bring

  • Proven Track Record : 10+ years of project management experience, ideally in non-profit, transportation, or community services. PMP or similar certification is a plus.
  • Practical Know-How : Strong organizational skills, with a talent for focusing on what matters to deliver meaningful outcomes.
  • Communication That Connects : You know how to engage everyonecommunity partners, team members, and stakeholderswithout fluff or jargon.
  • Adaptability : Comfortable with modern tools (e.g., Asana, Slack, MS Project) but grounded in practical approaches that serve our mission.
  • Mission-Driven Mindset : You value independence, accountability, and a workplace that respects your life outside of work.
  • Flexibility : Ability to work some weekends and overtime as project demands require.

  • Communication : Exceptional skills in public relations, marketing, and professional communication, both written and verbal.
  • Technical Proficiency : Advanced proficiency in personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, website maintenance, and standard office equipment (e.g., copiers, multi-line phones).
  • Interpersonal Skills : Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, including elected officials, community leaders, business owners and workforce.
  • Organizational Acumen : Strong time management, multitasking, and attention to detail in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
  • Financial Literacy : Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and financial oversight for nonprofit organizations.
