New Product Introduction (NPI) Manufacturing Engineer

Day in the Life

You start your morning partnering with Estimation to scope a new part : you review drawings, interpret GD&T, and map out machining approaches for milling, turning, and mill-turn work. By mid-morning, you're drafting process plans, building setup instructions, and calculating cycle times informed by your deep understanding of CNC tooling and CAM. After lunch, you're on the floor validating fixturing choices, implementing new methods or equipment, and troubleshooting manufacturing challenges. You wrap up by updating quotes, producing operational reports, and sharing manufacturability feedback with customers to finalize New Part Introduction (NPI) decisions.

The Role

As a central member of our Engineering Team focused on NPI, you'll blend estimating, project management, and process development while collaborating closely with Manufacturing and Estimation. This is a hands-on position for a self-starter with leadership potential and a strong command of CNC machining and GD&T. Your internal customers include engineering, estimating, manufacturing, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Create end-to-end process plans, setup sheets, and operator instructions.
• Produce documentation for new manufacturing processes and methods.
• Author engineering procedures, standards, and work instructions.
• Recommend design or process changes that elevate efficiency, quality, and performance.
• Calculate operational costs for machined components and assemblies.
• Partner with Estimation and, at times, lead quoting activities.
• Communicate capabilities and production schedules to keep workflows on track.
• Provide manufacturing technical expertise and on-the-floor support.
• Introduce new equipment, techniques, and processes to improve operations.
• Assess drawings / specifications for manufacturability and completeness.
• Prepare clear operational and status reports.
• Perform cost / benefit analyses for designs and projects.
• Evaluate production performance and select optimal manufacturing methods.
• Deliver DFM / manufacturability feedback to customers from quote through NPI.
