This is a full-time, 35-hour position reporting to the Assistant Controller. The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the Finance Office in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely and accurate reporting. This role requires strong accounting knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and a high level of attention to detail. The Staff Accountant will manage monthly reconciliations, prepare standard journal entries, reconcile bank, and exchange accounts, monitor dining hall guest pass activity, and provide backup support for accounts payable functions. This position requires the ability to work collaboratively in an office environment and attend in-person meetings as needed.
Essential Functions
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and yearly reconciliations of assigned general ledger and exchange accounts .
- Prepare and record standard monthly journal entries , including accruals and reclassifications.
- Analyze account variances and provide explanations for management review.
- Prepare and complete monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Monthly budget report distribution and maintain a current recipient listing.
- Assist departments with expenditure and budget questions.
- Prepare P&L statements for programs / fundraising events.
- Review, track, and reconcile dining hall guest pass transactions.
- Assist in preparing schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for audits.
- Provide backup support to the Accounts Payable function , including invoice processing, vendor communication, and payment runs, as needed.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and financial reporting as requested.

The minimum qualifications for this position are :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.1–3 years of accounting experience preferred (higher education experience a plus).Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas.Solid understanding of accounting principles and general ledger functions.Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Excellent communication and people skills.High attention to detail and accuracy.MUST BE US WORK AUTHORIZED
