We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join a dynamic healthcare team in the Midwest region. This role is essential in conducting comprehensive sleep studies to provide accurate and timely results that aid in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders. As a valued member of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with sleep specialists and healthcare providers to develop personalized treatment plans based on your findings.

Essential Job Functions

Conduct overnight polysomnographic studies in a sleep laboratory and perform home sleep testing as needed.

Prepare and calibrate equipment, ensuring sensors are correctly placed for precise data collection.

Monitor and document patient behavior and physiological data during sleep studies.

Analyze polysomnographic data and generate detailed reports to assist in diagnosis and management of sleep disorders.

Work collaboratively with physicians and healthcare professionals to interpret results and recommend interventions.

Educate patients on sleep disorders, treatment options, and the importance of sleep health, providing compassionate support throughout the testing process.

Maintain equipment and ensure compliance with safety and procedural guidelines to uphold high-quality testing environments.

Stay current with advances in sleep medicine, including new procedures, equipment, and regulations.

Proficiently titrate CPAP / Bi-level pressure management and advanced sleep disorder treatments; follow oxygen titration protocols.

Keep accurate records of patients, equipment, and charges.

Recognize and respond appropriately to medical events such as cardiac dysrhythmias, respiratory events, and seizures.

Ensure patient safety and welfare, including those with special needs, and handle hazardous materials responsibly.

Consider individual patient needs during procedures, including emotional and spiritual support.

Implement and document quality assurance activities to optimize sleep lab performance.

Participate in quality assurance, quality improvement, and performance improvement activities.

Perform physical demands of the job as required.

Education and Experience

Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Sleep Medicine, Respiratory Care, or equivalent; two years of EEG experience preferred.

Prior training as a nurse, EEG technologist, respiratory care practitioner, pulmonary function technologist, or allied health professional is preferred.

Membership in professional associations such as the American Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST), American Society of Electroencephalographic Technologists (ASET), or American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) is preferred.

Licenses or certifications such as CRT, RRT, RPSGT, CRSGT, REEGT, RST, SDS, or CCSH are preferred.

Previous experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist in a healthcare setting is advantageous.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of sleep disorders and treatment modalities.

Ability to operate and troubleshoot polysomnographic equipment and related technologies.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association standards.

Completion of Mandatory Reporter training at hire or within six months of start date.

Compliance with all federal, state, and professional licensure and regulatory training requirements.
