DayToDay Responsbilities : Perform regular preventative maintenance and health checks on servers, networking equipment, cabling, and supporting hardware.
Rack / stack, install, and configure servers and components (drives, RAM, NICs, motherboards, power supplies).
Conduct diagnostics and hands-on repairs of failing server hardware; hiring manager stressed this is more critical than simply doing installation or deployment work.
Troubleshoot hardware and cabling issues, escalating advanced Layer 2 / 3 networking problems to specialized teams.
Rapidly respond to critical incidents while ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
Document issues and share resolutions with managers / teams.
Manage multiple tickets / tasks simultaneously, demonstrating strong prioritization, organization, and communication skills.
Participate in an on-call rotation to support 24 / 7 operations.
May be required to travel up to 10% between data center locations (within 10–20 minutes of each other).
Must Have : 3 years of hands-on data center experience.
Strong server hardware experience : installation, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair.
Candidates must be able to articulate step-by-step approaches to things like : Diagnosing and repairing failed drives, RAM, PSUs, NICs, or motherboards.
Troubleshooting a server that won’t power on.
Strong confidence with rack / stack activities and identifying / repairing physical issues directly in the racks.
Working knowledge of basic connectivity / cabling troubleshooting.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to clearly communicate hands-on troubleshooting experience in interview settings.
Hiring manager feedback emphasized : candidates who only show installation / deployment experience (servers, network equipment, power systems) will not be a fit — they need to show preventative maintenance, repair, and diagnostic ownership.
NiceToHave : Experience with Linux environments (basic commands, log checks, system interaction).
Familiarity with basic network troubleshooting (verifying cabling, link status, connectivity) while escalating advanced networking issues.
