Job Title : DRIVER

SUMMARY
Responsible for providing transportation services to individuals within the agency so they can participate in their daily activities.
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Responsible for safe transportation.
- Inspect vehicle before each route to ensure vehicle is in proper working order.
- Ensure all safety equipment is in proper working order, notifies supervisor immediately for repair.
- Maintain vehicle interior and exterior to ensure cleanliness and safety for all passengers.
- Provide assistance to passengers and vehicle monitor, as necessary, including helping in / out of vehicle, etc.
- Will be required to assist with miscellaneous assignments in between routes.
- The ability to effectively and efficiently use computers or mobile devices to input, access, modify, or output information. This includes the ability to quickly access, store and retrieve data.
- Be knowledgeable of wheelchair tie down and restraint procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS
The position involves extensive driving in the provision of transportation for individuals to their day programs, work sites and residence. This position may require light (5 pounds) to heavy lifting (50 pounds) and occasional stooping, kneeling, and / or bending. May require working in tight spaces when securing individuals which utilize a wheelchair. The position may require physical intervention if a passenger is displaying combative or potentially dangerous behavior.
WORKING CONDITIONS
An environment with noises from the vehicle(s) and other outdoor noises. The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and / or infectious diseases and or potentially toxic fumes, liquids, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 1 year providing transportation servicesMust be at least 18 years of AgeHighschool Diploma or GEDMust have a safe driving recordMust be able to communicate effectively in English – both in writing and orally.Must not have been convicted of any disqualifying felony and must not have been substantiated for abuse or neglect in the state of Missouri, as recorded by the Department of Mental Health’s Employee Disqualification List.Must demonstrate safe practices in all areas and exemplify positive professional standards.Must possess or obtain, and subsequently maintain, a valid driver’s license before new-hire orientation and must carry at least the minimum-necessary auto insurance coverage according to state law.Must obtain and maintain specific classes of licenses as needed for the legal operation of agency vehicles.
