Overview

The Cyber Threat Analyst supports the day-to-day analysis to identify, mitigate, and resolve cybersecurity events and incidents. Analyst monitors for threats against organizational infrastructure, investigates reported events, and produces detailed reports while following established processes and procedures in the form of playbooks, workbooks, training plans, knowledge base articles and other organizational documentation. Analyst works closely with the Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) and communicates information to end users, team members, and appropriate escalation tiers within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Supports daily SOC operations and provides analysis to identify, mitigate, and resolve cybersecurity events and incidents in real time. Collaborates with team members and MSSP to complete investigations and escalate as needed.
  • Communicates with end users and recommends and takes appropriate actions regarding suspicious emails reported to the CIRT for review. Participates as a technical resource in the eDiscovery and Legal Hold process by creating eDiscovery cases and applying litigation holds, collections, and exports as requested by the HR and Legal teams.
  • Stays up to date on current trends and training while working with peers to test and identify cost-effective solutions to new and existing technical needs as they relate to the detection and response to Cybersecurity events and incidents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Information Security, or Cybersecurity and 1-2 years. Experience required in roles related to Information Technology, Information Security, or Cybersecurity (preferred). or
  • High School diploma, or equivalent, and 3-5 years' experience experience required in Information Technology, Information Security, or Cybersecurity roles. Preferred certifications can be combined with years of experience to meet experience requirement.
  • Prior SOC Analyst experience desired

  • CompTIA Security+ (Sec+) Preferred
  • OR CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst+ (CySA+) Preferred
  • OR ISC2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) Preferred
  • OR GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) Preferred
  • OR Other GIAC Certifications Preferred

    Pay

    Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $35.91 / hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

    Remote Work

    This position is entirely remote or work from home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area or request advanced approval to work outside of the area and may attend onsite meetings, as scheduled.
