Equipment Operator

We are seeking skilled Equipment Operators for both day and night shifts. The successful candidates will operate various types of material handling equipment efficiently and safely, ensuring seamless operations within the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Operate multiple types of material handling equipment including Dump Truck, Wheel Loader, Skid Steer Loader, and Forklift safely and productively.
  • Cross-train on various equipment types and roles throughout the plant.
  • Grade and inspect incoming material.
  • Move, sort, and sample materials.
  • Operate truck and retail scales.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in general labor, forklift operation, production, industrial cleaning, and general production.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment with audible alarms and signals.
  • Effective communication skills using radios and telephones.
  • Demonstrate visual recognition of workplace hazards.
  • Ability to read and comprehend labels and MSDS sheets.
  • Capability to work at high elevations and in enclosed spaces with proper permitting and PPE.
  • Adaptability to work in varying seasonal conditions (rain / snow, hot / cold weather).
  • Good judgmental skills.
  • Basic knowledge of scrap grades.
  • High school education or equivalent.

  • Ability to operate forklift, skid steer, and / or other heavy machinery.

    Work Environment

    The role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and exposure to fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, and high noise levels. Employees must wear PPE, including a hard hat, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and protective gloves. The position requires working in high elevations and enclosed spaces with appropriate permits and PPE.

    Job Type & Location

    This is a contract to hire position based out of Rocky Mount, Virginia.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
