Overview
Space RCO Software Test Engineer (Senior) – Albuquerque, NM (US-NM). MTSI is seeking a senior Software Test Engineer to support development of first-of-kind space vehicles and missions. The selected candidate will provide System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO). The Space RCO program office, located at Kirtland AFB, NM, is a small, streamlined organization with dedicated acquisition support functions including contracting, financial management, human resources, security, program management and technical engineering support for rapid response to classified space programs. The mission is to deliver operationally dominant space capabilities at the speed of warfighting relevance in response to Commander, U.S. Space Command requirements. The successful candidate will be a leader and problem solver able to deliver results as part of a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the government Program Manager with test campaigns.
- Work with government test agencies and Mission Partners to develop Developmental and Operational test plans, execute tests, track results, capture Deficiency Reports, write mitigation plans, and capture lessons learned.
- Focus on end-to-end testing and closure of Deficiency Reports with all stakeholders.
- Support design, interpretation, and analysis of technical solutions to complex discipline-specific testing.
- Plan and perform test research, development, and other assignments in conformance with design, engineering, and customer specifications.
- Evaluate system architecture and component testing to eliminate redundancy and align capabilities across multiple programs and / or agencies.
- Provide technical expertise for performance analysis, test plan design and test scenarios for functional testing, security testing, and vulnerability analysis of ground and space software tools and capabilities.
- Be responsible for the technical / engineering planning and execution of major and minor testing necessary on projects.
- Lead authoring, evaluation and / or execution of the program test and evaluation master plan and system acceptance planning; interface with multiple mission partners and oversee test and system engineering working groups.
- Coordinate with multiple partners / agencies to ensure test communities support delivery milestones.
- Work on high-visibility or mission-critical aspects of programs and perform all functional duties independently.
- Oversee the efforts of less senior staff and / or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
- Translate complex ideas and data into simple, actionable recommendations or differentiated courses of action.
Qualifications
Required skills :
Minimum ten (10) years DoD / IC, or relevant industry work experience.Experience with DoD acquisition including documentation generation, presentation preparation, and programmatic discussions.Experience with Space Vehicle SatOps.Proven experience and / or qualifications in testing software for the DoD or IC.Understanding of operational environment and mission user needs.Knowledge of space system engineering, development, and manufacturing.Experience in Agile Development, Security and Operations (DevSecOps) principles.Experience in DoD program management including program development and transition.Experience with Agile roadmaps, Integrated Master Schedules, and risk management.Experience with Statements of Work (SOW) and Performance Work Statements (PWS).Led / participated in development and execution of test plans and test cases for software systems.Developed and maintained automated test scripts.Identified, documented, and tracked software defects.Collaborated with developers to resolve defects and improve software quality.Performed integration testing of software components and systems.Contributed to the development and maintenance of CI / CD pipelines.Worked within Agile / Scrum development environments.Desired skills :
Five (5) years of relevant DoD and / or Industry work experience with SAP and / or SCI.Experience with software testing for space vehicle and / or space ground systems.SETA to Government program office experience.Experience with rapid prototyping.Experience with integrated air, space, and cyberspace capabilities including RMF ATO process and security testing.Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining ground mission planning architecture and software.Experience with ACAT I / II level acquisition programs.Experience using multivariable optimization in mission planning software systems.Experience planning and executing test campaigns for space systems.Fluency with IC organizations.Experience with online collaboration tools (Confluence, SharePoint, JIRA).Experience with cloud computing tools (e.g., AWS, Azure) and virtualization (e.g., VMware).Experience with testing frameworks (Selenium, JUnit, pytest, Cucumber, Postman, JMeter).Programming languages : Python, Java, JavaScript, Bash; Operating systems : Linux, Windows; Databases : SQL, NoSQL.Education

Active TOP SECRET clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility (no less than 2 years total SAP / SCI experience, with 1 year within last 5 years) and willingness to submit to a Counter-Intelligence polygraphCandidate must maintain a TS / SCI clearance as a condition of employmentLocation / Travel
Full-time, on-site in vicinity of Kirtland AFB, NM, with travel up to 30% within the continental United States.
