JOB SUMMARY :

Staff Systems Engineer

An exciting opportunity has become available within a surgical robotics company based out of the South Bay Area, CA. The company is developing an innovative surgical robotic platform that will revolutionize how surgery is performed. The company’s devices incorporate the most cutting-edge technology in the industry including machine learning, computer vision, simulation, and AR / VR.

A senior, individual contributor position has become available on the systems engineering team. This hire will work closely with the Robotics & Controls team and the Hardware team to develop the interface of the device and drive the development of advanced instrumentation. This individual will be expected to communicate and collaborate with different engineering teams and departments across the entire company.

This individual should have systems engineering experience with a complex electromechanical medical device, ideally a device with multi-axis robotic components. Candidates should have extensive experience writing requirements and design specifications for medical devices. Candidates MUST HAVE robotics & controls / motion control experience .

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :

  • Manage Architecture, requirements, interface specifications, systems models and tests relative to development milestones
  • Work closely with engineering teams to plan / de-risk remaining development work
  • Help define and refine Systems Engineering & Design Control processes and practices

SKILLS REQUIRED :

  • BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical or other Engineering discipline and 8+ years of Industry experience
  • Experience developing medical devices within FDA, ISO, and IEC requirements and guidelines including risk analysis and quality assurance
  • Broad Knowledge across mechanical, electrical and software engineering, as part of combined HW / SW systems
  • Experience in Robotic Systems and Control theory
