DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will perform work and oversee inmate work crews completing tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of a boiler plant. You will maintain efficient operations of two water tube natural gas / oil fired boilers, two fire tube natural gas / oil fired boilers, and associated equipment under normal and emergency conditions. You will also utilize manual and automatic controls, perform scheduled and unscheduled operational assessments, as well as interpret visual and aural gauges, meters, and sensing devices. This role requires the ability to analyze situations and problems to provide appropriate resolutions that will ensure a continuous supply of heat and hot water. In addition, you will test boiler water chemistry and water softening systems, maintain logs of test results, and inventory water treatment chemicals, reagents, and supplies needed to perform testing.
