We are currently seeking a Senior Director, Controller to join our collaborative team at our Fort Washington office.
We are currently seeking a talented Senior Director, Controller to join our Finance team in our Fort Washington office. This position has full responsibility for all day-to-day accounting operations, producing the monthly financial statements, and requires a deep expertise in full-cycle record to report process as well as order to revenue to cash. The Controller will report to the SVP Finance and support senior management in the achievement of the Company’s goals. A successful candidate will combine excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting in accordance with US GAAP, as well as issuance of relevant business KPIs to help guide the business.
This role must maintain strong working relationships cross-functionally with department / division leaders, employees, and external partners. Experience at a private equity or venture-backed high-growth start-up and / or pharmaceutical industry a plus. A CPA is a requirement.
What a day in the life of a Senior Director, Controller looks like :
Management and Leadership :
- Directly responsible for all accounting systems and functions
- Mentor and develop the accounting team, manage appropriate delegation and allocation of workload, proactively anticipate and effectively resolve problems
- Ultimately design, establish and maintain accounting team organizational structure and staffing
- Effectively execute accounting functions while leading continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting function
Accounting and Reporting Leadership :
Lead the monthly and quarterly close process and perform / oversee month-end journals and associated balance sheet account reconciliationsAssist in the preparation of monthly income statement analysis schedules for senior managementOversight for timely invoicing and collections process ensuring best in class order to cash processOversight of the procure to pay process ensuring accurate recording of purchasesLead the revenue recognition process and compliance including appropriate system set upDeliver knowledge and insight into technical accounting issues and train direct reports on complex issues as neededLead monthly, quarterly, annual and statutory financial reportingDeliver accounting and financial reporting requirements consistent with a private equity-backed companyAssist in Company’s budgeting and planning process for the areas that fall within the accounting functionIntegrate acquisitions into current ERP systemResponsible for Accounting Compliance including Debt, Foreign Statutory requirements, Tax ComplianceManage Controls and Processes :
Develop and implement effective accounting policies, procedures and internal controlsDevelop and implement process improvements that create efficiency in the monthly close processesLead ERP optimization for ongoing systems and process refinementPublish and help drive daily cash flow via net working capital metrics, capex planning and tax activityWhat we expect from qualified candidates :
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance10 to 15 years of experience in a finance or accounting position with proven track record of leadershipComprehensive understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)High growth experience strongly preferred and deep expertise in :Purchase Price Accounting
General Accounting (GL)Transactional Accounting (AP / AR) and Accounting PoliciesFixed Assets and Project AccountingFinancial Reporting / Power BIERP SystemsTaxAdvanced proficiency in NetSuiteProven experience designing, creating or implementing financial systemsProven ability to implement, drive, improve and lead corporate accounting processes and proceduresPreferred Skills & Experience
Experience with private equity or venture capital backed portfolio companies preferredProfessional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials while managing competing priorities within tight deadlines; participate in and facilitate group meetings; ability to work under pressure while maintaining perspective on end resultProficient with technology; knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systemsLeader by example.
