Overview
VES, LLC is seeking a highly capable Senior Embedded Systems & Electronics Engineer with a proven track record in designing and integrating advanced hardware and software systems for unmanned platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical experience in embedded systems, digital and analog circuit design, and real-world, field-deployable electronic solutions. This role is located in Tampa, FL and may require occasional travel, about 10%.
Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, and test custom electronics and embedded systems for unmanned aerial and ground vehicles.
- Integrate edge-compute platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi) with control, sensor, and communication subsystems.
- Configure and optimize meshing radio networks, static IP routing, and MAVLink / QGroundControl systems for multi-vehicle coordination.
- Troubleshoot and repair mission-critical hardware, including ESCs, power distribution circuits, and custom connectors.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineering teams to ensure reliable, system-level integration.
- Contribute to the development of technical documentation, testing procedures, and design reviews.
- Support proposal development, client briefings, and system architecture discussions.
Required Skills
Proficiency in Python, C / C++, LTSpice, MATLAB, and relevant circuit simulation tools.Experience with UAS technologies and communication protocols (e.g., MAVLink, QGroundControl).Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept through deployment.Desired Skills
Graduate coursework or project experience in embedded control, analog circuit design, or power electronics.FAA Remote Drone Pilot Certification.Familiarity with digital signal processing, VLSI, or analog IC design.Previous work supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs or autonomous systems.Required Education And Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded systems design, prototyping, and hardware integration.Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.Excellent oral and written communication skills with respect to all the above requirements.Benefits
