About KVUE-TV Austin , the ABC TEGNA affiliate, is looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Journalist to maintain our tradition of superior reporting and newsgathering. We seek a creative storyteller who can produce unique, memorable, and well-written stories across all platforms, with outstanding photography and editing skills. If you understand true multi-platform journalism and are innovative in your methods, we want to hear from you!

Current driver’s license and ability to operate news gathering vehicles are required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform authoritative, compelling live shots during developing stories or breaking news.
  • Develop story ideas and mine the community for sources.
  • Identify, write, and produce stories within a specific framework.
  • Research facts and maintain credibility.
  • Maintain and develop sources to enhance reporting.
  • Shoot, write, produce, and edit content for on-air and online platforms within deadlines.
  • Use creative production techniques like graphics and new media to enhance stories.
  • Utilize social media and digital tools for research and distribution.
  • Participate in editorial meetings and contribute story ideas daily.
  • Write in an exciting, captivating, and authentic manner.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of reporting experience preferred.
  • Strong news judgment, communication, creativity, and ethical decision-making skills.
  • Solid writing, production, and tease writing skills.
  • Experience with ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics is preferred.
  • Organized with the ability to work under constant deadlines.
  • Calm handling of live breaking news and changing events.
  • Proven social and digital content creation ability.
  • Knowledge of Austin is a plus.
  • Flexible schedule including overnights, mornings, weekends, and holidays.
