Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring 3 years of critical care experience, strong PCU skills, and current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the ICU with required floating to PCU and potential float to affiliate hospitals
  • Patient population includes ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, acute kidney injuries, UTIs, and acute shock
  • High nurse-to-patient ratios may be required
  • Night shift with 3x12 hour shifts from 19 : 00 to 07 : 00
  • Care involves complex cases, including post-cardiac surgery, renal failure, stroke, and ventilated patients
  • Uses Cerner EMR; Cerner charting experience required
  • All travelers must float within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
  • Strong infection prevention, isolation, and PPE usage required
  • Must be able to titrate drips, manage ventilators, and handle emergency interventions
  • Expected to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment
  • Red scrub tops and black bottoms required
  • Free parking available on site
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Local candidates are not accepted for ICU positions
  • Perm or PRN employees must have a 12-month gap before returning as a traveler
  • Time off requests of 5 days or fewer are auto-approved; longer requests need facility approval

  • Active IN or compact RN license required; pending license accepted with proof of application
  • Three years ICU or strong PCU RN experience required (less may be considered based on experience)
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required; AHA & RQI accepted
  • Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation, management of IV drips, ventilator care, EKG, ABG analysis, and procedural sedation
  • Experience with post-cardiac surgery care, stroke management, and advanced airway management required
