Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1+ years Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Orientation and Mobility Specialist Tacoma, WA Pay : From $57-$64 / hr, based off experience

Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced Orientation and Mobility Specialists (O&M Specialists) for a part-time opportunity in Tacoma, Washington. Situated on the scenic Puget Sound, Tacoma offers an energetic blend of urban innovation and natural beauty. This role focuses on equipping students with the skills needed to navigate their environments safely and independently.

Requirements :

Bachelors or Masters degree in Orientation and Mobility or Visual Impairments.

Current Washington State ESA certification or eligibility for certification.

Certification from the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP) preferred.

Recent background check and fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities :

Conduct assessments and develop individualized O&M training plans for students.

Teach safe travel techniques using canes, visual cues, and assistive technology.

Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support student independence.

Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in accordance with IEPs.

Provide professional guidance on accessibility and orientation strategies.
