We are looking for a Staff Software & Data Engineer to generate new business intelligence applications inside Palantir's Foundry platform. You'll establish the standards for how these applications are built, tested, developed and deployed. You will be working with a Product Owner and overseeing a small team of Software & Data Engineers as technical lead to design, implement, deploy and maintain applications inside Palantir Foundry in accordance with stakeholder needs and requests. You'll also have expertise that you use to guide Ursa Major to a healthy data ecosystem internally, designing and guiding our approach for data engineering.

Your work will have a larger impact beyond implementing tools and processes. Your work will directly shape how Ursa Major continues its growth as a propulsion manufacturing company that is enabling the future of both defense and commercial aerospace.

Responsibilities

  • Act as technical lead for our internal Palantir Foundry team.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner and stakeholders to architect, develop and deploy workflows, intuitive tooling, analytic workflows and dashboards.
  • Design, build and maintain data pipelines using Palantir Foundry (Code Repositories, Contour, Ontology, etc.) .
  • Develop Ontology objects to manage and reason over data within Palantir Foundry.
  • Design and document data logic, lineage, and tooling for discoverability and maintainability.
  • Configure and maintain data integrations from various source systems into Foundry.
  • Identify and execute on opportunities for system optimization and automation.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices for Foundry development, proactively identifying best practices the team should adopt.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials and documentation for Foundry users.
  • Work collaboratively within agile-inspired development methodology.

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of data engineering experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on, professional experience with Palantir Foundry
  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles and data warehousing concepts
  • Desired Experience

  • Experience working with manufacturing, industrial systems, or IoT data
  • Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $160,000 - $185,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
