Overview
The Ad Platform Engineering organization within Disney Entertainment and ESPN is responsible for building, enhancing and maintaining the high-performance, distributed, microservice-based Digital Advertising Platform. The platform handles qualification, delivery, and tracking of Digital Advertising campaigns (Video on Demand, Live TV, and innovative interactive ads) across Disney online properties, including Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+.
The Disney Campaign Manager team builds Disney’s self-service advertising portal, empowering advertisers with seamless access to premium streaming inventory across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. It enables users to set up, launch, and optimize campaigns in real time through an intuitive dashboard offering precise targeting, flexible budgeting, and performance analytics.
As Manager of Software Engineering, you will apply deep technical knowledge to deliver scalable, performant, maintainable, loosely coupled, encapsulated, and testable software.

Responsibilities
Direct the team’s design and implementation with focus on interoperability, API design, and encapsulationReview code and testsAvailable for a weekly-rotating On-Call support scheduleRead requirements documentation from Product and translate into implementation tickets, leading the team through executionDefine, review, document, and estimate LOE for software and system designs in a high-throughput, low-latency microservices environmentDefine and prioritize sprintable work for the team and collaborate with other leads on cross-functional projectsEnhance system observability with metrics, monitors and alertsHold regular 1 : 1 meetings with team members for personal and career developmentConduct thoughtful annual reviews for direct reportsPerformance managementBasic Qualifications
8+ years of software engineering experienceAdvanced proficiency with JavaProficiency with JavaScript frameworks (React, Node.js)Solid understanding of microservice architectureRelational database design and implementationDemonstrable analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication, collaboration skills and a strong teamwork ethic with both technical and non-technical audiencesDemonstrated experience leading a software development teamPreferred Qualifications

BS or MS in Computer Science / Engineering or relevant work experienceThe hiring range for this position in Glendale, California is $167,700 to $224,900 per year, and Santa Monica, California is $167,700 to $224,900 per year. The base pay offered will consider internal equity and may vary based on geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and / or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on level and position offered.
