Overview
The USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism, founded in 2004, is seeking to hire a veteran editor to lead our award-winning non-profit journalism collaborative focused on health and health equity and working with ethnic media news outlets across California. The Collaborative News Editor will create educational programming, serve as project editor, mentor reporters at different skills levels and lead a learning and reporting effort that will involve 5-7 ethnic media outlets in California. As project manager, you will nurture esprit de corps and build a virtual newsroom among the reporters, newsroom leaders and their editorial colleagues, brainstorming on story ideas, editing copy and developing a learning curriculum with program design and priorities established in collaboration with participating newsrooms. You will also be expected to track outcomes and contribute to reports on our progress.
Responsibilities
Lead and edit collaborative health journalism projects across multiple ethnic media outlets in California. Develop educational programming and a learning curriculum in collaboration with participating newsrooms. Edit copy, brainstorm story ideas, and mentor reporters at varying levels of experience. Manage project timelines, coordinate deadlines and deliverables, and track outcomes for program reporting.

This is a 40 hour per week, grant-funded, hybrid, staff position based in Los Angeles, with a two-day weekly in-office requirement.

Minimum Education and Experience
Minimum Education : Bachelor’s degree. Minimum Experience : 3 years. Minimum Field of Expertise : Experience in developing and conducting training classes and developing instructional materials.
