Job Title
Performs a variety of building maintenance and grounds work including but not limited to painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, A / C repairs, and maintaining grounds in a clean, neat, and safe manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Performs interior and exterior building repairs.
- Works with interior and exterior household paint; repairs drywall, paints interior and exterior of building(s).
- Decides the amount of materials needed to perform repairs and maintenance work on new and existing projects.
- Performs carpentry repairs; installs doors, replaces doors and window frames, utility rooms, and cabinets.
- Inspects and repairs air-conditioning, heating systems and refrigerators.
- Inspects, repairs, and installs electrical and gas boilers.
- Repairs and installs plumbing equipment; repairs water lines; unclogs drain lines and repairs other related plumbing components.
- Reads and uses test meters to measure electric current and uses air conditioning gages.
- Performs trouble-shooting work; repairs electrical equipment and wiring in buildings.
- Performs the cleaning and operating of equipment, such as : spray paint guns, riding mowers, and other related mechanical equipment.
- Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts.
- Must follow all rules of telephone courtesy in all telephone communications.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
- Performs general building and ground maintenance work; cleans, disinfects and maintains restrooms and maintains equipment used to perform work duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
At least one (1) year of general experience. Experience performing plumbing, painting, electrical, heating and air conditioning repair, and / or maintenance work is preferred.Valid Licenses and Certifications

Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.Must obtain HVAC certification within (1) one year of employment.Continued employment is contingent on successfully obtaining required certification(s) and / or license(s) within the specified period of time indicated above from time of hire.
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
