Job Title :

  • Telecommunications Technician Department :  IT Reports To :  Telecommunications Manager Job Summary : Seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Telecommunications Technician to install, maintain, and repair communication systems and equipment.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of telephone systems, VoIP infrastructure, data networks, and other telecommunication services.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot telephone and data communication systems (e.g., VoIP, PBX, LAN / WAN).
  • Maintain and repair cable and fiber-optic systems, including testing and labeling of cables.
  • Perform system diagnostics and upgrades to maintain network performance and security.
  • Set up voice mail systems, call forwarding, call routing, and conferencing features.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams for infrastructure setup or service issues.
  • Document all work performed including equipment installed, settings, and system updates.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards during installations and maintenance.
  • Provide technical support and training to end users as needed.
  • Monitor network activity and identify and resolve issues related to latency, connectivity, or hardware faults.

    • Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or technical degree in electronics, telecommunications, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a telecommunications technician or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of VoIP systems, structured cabling, and IP networking.
  • Familiarity with telecommunication tools and testing equipment (e.g., TDR, OTDR, tone generator).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various work sites.
