Must-Have :
Minimum 2 years of experience in Med / Surg or Telemetry.
Previous charge experience preferred.
Certification in BLS and NIHSS is required.
Experience with IV starts and blood product administration is necessary.
Description :
We are seeking a Registered Nurse with a specialty in Medical Surgical nursing.
The nurse will work in a neurosurgical and neuro-trauma step-down unit.
The role involves caring for patients with a variety of neuro trauma conditions including traumatic brain injury, strokes, and spinal cord injuries.
The nurse will work with patients aged 15 to 100+ years.
Primary responsibilities include administering medications, managing IVs, and providing wound care.
The nurse will collaborate with therapists for early mobility and rehabilitation.
Experience in starting and maintaining IVs, managing peripheral lines, and conducting various procedures such as lumbar punctures is preferred.
The staffing ratio is 1 : 5-6.
The nurse will be expected to float to different departments as operational needs dictate.
Weekend work every other week is expected, with the possibility of consecutive weekends based on unit needs.
The unit emphasizes excellent team support, and charge nurses typically manage a reduced patient load.
This position provides a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment while making a significant impact on patient recovery and rehabilitation.
Travelers must be flexible and willing to adapt to various clinical situations.
