Database Engineer

Irys Technologies is looking for a talented Database Engineer in the Austin or San Antonio area to design, optimize, and secure our data infrastructure. This position will play a critical role in managing high-performance databases, with a mandatory expertise in Redis DB , implementing cryptographic solutions, and ensuring data integrity for our mission-critical applications. Proficiency in GitHub Flow is essential for collaborative development. Bonus points for expertise in blockchain technology, as we explore decentralized data solutions.

Project Duration : 4-6 Months

Workplace Type : Primarily Remote; In-office may be required on an as needed basis. If needed, the office is located in downtown San Antonio, TX.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable database systems using Redis DB (mandatory) and SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and caching strategies with a focus on Redis DB.
• Implement cryptographic techniques (e.g., encryption, hashing, key management) to secure sensitive data.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines for real-time and batch processing.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to ensure seamless integration with application layers.
• Use GitHub Flow for version control, including managing database schema changes and scripts via pull requests.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.
• Document database schemas, security protocols, and operational procedures.
• Explore blockchain-based solutions for data integrity and decentralized storage (if applicable).
