Overview
Alabama State University, Department of Public Safety invites applications for the position of Police Officer. Under direct supervision, the police officer performs duties relating to the protection of university students, faculty, staff, personal and institution property through the enforcement of law and university rules and assumes low level supervisory duties as assigned by shift commander.

Qualifications
Must be a high school graduate or GED approved by the State Department of Education, 21 years old, have a valid driver license with an insurable driving record, must not have been convicted of a felony, misdemeanor involving force, violence, or moral turpitude, have 2 years of law enforcement experience, considerable knowledge of Title 13 (A) criminal code to include elements and classes of crimes and use of deadly force, and Title 32, to include types of traffic violations. Must be able to perform general police work such as moving barricades, pushing automobiles, lifting batteries, boxes, running and chasing suspects, and be skilled in the use of firearms with proficiency to qualify under Peace Officers Standards and departmental standards.
